Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn Bhd (PFA) reinforced its commitment to talent development and industry–academia collaboration with the successful hosting of an industrial visit by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) on 21 April 2026. This visit marks the third collaborative engagement between PFA and UNIMAS, underscoring a growing strategic partnership focused on nurturing future-ready professionals and supporting sustainable industrial growth in Sarawak.

Meaningful Industry Exposure for Future Talent

A key highlight of the visit was the students’ first-hand exposure to PFA’s large-scale furnace and smelting operations, offering invaluable practical insight into ferroalloy production, raw material management, and metallurgical processes. The experience provided students with a clearer understanding of real-world industrial environments and potential career pathways within the heavy industry sector. The UNIMAS delegation comprised 68 students and one academic representative from the Faculty of Resource Science and Technology.

Leadership Engagement and Strong Employer Branding

The visit also featured active engagement from PFA’s management and technical teams, reinforcing the company’s openness to knowledge-sharing and mentorship. The participation of senior leadership during the session and official photo opportunities further strengthened PFA’s image as a community-focused and people-driven organization. High-quality visual and media content was captured during the programme and will be leveraged across PFA’s digital platforms to enhance corporate branding and recruitment outreach.

Supporting Sustainable Development Goals

This initiative aligns with PFA’s ongoing commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in advancing education, skills development, and local workforce empowerment. By providing structured industry exposure, PFA continues to support inclusive growth and the development of Sarawak’s next generation of engineers, scientists, and industry professionals.

Mutual Value Creation

For Pertama Ferroalloys, the industrial visit serves as a strategic talent engagement platform, enabling early identification of high-potential candidates for internships and future recruitment, while strengthening long-term collaboration with academic institutions. For UNIMAS students, the programme delivers critical industry exposure, bridging academic theory with operational practice and opening direct pathways to professional development opportunities within PFA.

Looking Ahead

The UNIMAS industrial visit reflects Pertama Ferroalloys’ strong commitment to educational development and long-term industry–academia synergy. Pertama Ferroalloys looks forward to expanding this partnership and continuing to play an active role in developing skilled, future-ready talent for Malaysia’s industrial sector, especially for Sarawakians.
