Pertama as Panelist Politeknik Mukah’s Commerce and Technology Exhibition (CTEX)

Pertama Ferroalloys successfully hosts bamboo planting programme

SAMALAJU, BINTULU (3 NOVEMBER 2024) – Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn Bhd successfully hosted a bamboo planting programme at its facility in Samalaju recently. According to a press statement, the event was organised in collaboration with the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC), the initiative represented an important step towards enhancing sustainability within the ferroalloy industry. STIDC general manager Zainal Abidin Abdullah, assistant general manager Hamzah Morshidi, Pertama Ferroalloys general manager Yuki Nakamura, and assistant deputy general manager Jack Tan jointly officiated at the event. In his welcoming remarks, Nakamura highlighted the reliance on materials such as wood charcoal and cork, but also acknowledged their efforts to minimise their environmental footprint. Pertama Ferroalloys Supports Local Orphans with “Hearts & Hopes” Community Development Program

Bintulu, Sarawak – October 12, 2024 In a heartwarming initiative aimed at supporting the educational needs of underprivileged children, Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn. Bhd. partnered with PERYATIM Bintulu and Universiti Putra Malaysia Kampus Bintulu (UPMKB) for the “Heart & Hopes” Community Development Program. Agreement inked to purchase and store slag byproducts

BINTULU: Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn Bhd (PFA) and Kemena Industries Sdn Bhd, have formalised an agreement for the purchase and storage of Pertama’s Silicomanganese (SiMn) slag byproduct, a key development for both companies and the region’s industrial sustainability efforts. The agreement was formalised in a signing ceremony at Wisma Bintulu, between Pertama general manager Yuki Nakamura and Kemena Global managing director Albert Hii Toh Ing. Under the agreement, Kemena Industries will purchase 500,000 metric tons of SiMn slag in the first year with an estimated 200,000 metric tons to be supplied annually in subsequent years, thus highlighting a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and the circular economy. With the necessary stockyard facilities in place, Kemena Industries is well-positioned to store the byproducts for future industrial use. Politeknik Mukah Discusses Potential Collaboration with Pertama Ferroalloys for Comprehensive Learning

Pertama Ferroalloys had recently received an industrial visit from Jabatan Perdagangan Politeknik Mukah, as part of their program “From Classroom to Factory: Industry Insights and Expert Perspectives”. The visit that was held yesterday, 2nd October 2024 was designed to enhance the practical learning of the Diploma of Business Studies students. A total of 65 students and 4 lecturers took part in the visit. Mako Urushizaki Shares Expertise for Badminton to Sarawak Local Students

Former Japan National Badminton Player, Mako Urushizaki, recently visited Pertama to share her expertise and passion for badminton with local students in Miri and Bintulu. Mako was ranked 1st in the Dubai International Challenge 2019 and RSL Swedish Open 2019.  Retired in 2021 due to injury, Mako now coaches badminton at Akua Badminton in Tokyo. Her purpose of visiting Sarawakian local students was two-fold, to engage with the local community, and also to learn about Pertama’s work cultures and values.  To kickoff her visit, Pertama organized a two-day friendly badminton sessions amongst staff and including general manager Yuki Nakamura. Community Coming Together for Beach Clean-Up Ahead of Bintulu International Kite Festival Local Tour 2024

21 September 2024 –  Kampung Nyalau was recently buzzed with community spirit with approximately 200 volunteers participating in a corporate social responsibility (CSR) event. The event focused on cleaning of the Kampung Nyalau beach and multipurpose hall. The clean-up event was organized by Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) with the help of village committees, as well as Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP) companies including Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn Bhd and Press Metal Bintulu Sdn Bhd. This event aims to prepare and set the tone for the village for the upcoming Bintulu International Kite Festival 2024 local tour that will be held on the 26th of September.  The event attracted around 130 villagers as well as approximately 50 volunteers from BDA, 20 from Press Metal, and 19 volunteers from Pertama.  Datu Yakup bin Kari, General Manager of BDA expressed his appreciation for Pertama’s contribution and active participation for the village and local school.
