Highlanders Games Carnival marks 25 years of unity and sport – Sarawak Tribune
The Highlanders Games Carnival, organized by Kelab Sukan Highlanders (KSH), celebrated its 25th anniversary with a remarkable closing dinner at the FORUM Cultural Centre, drawing over 780 guests from Sarawak and beyond.
The milestone event, held from May 31 to June 2, 2025, showcased 14 sporting events, including traditional games, and brought together 10 contingents from Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, and various towns and villages across Sarawak.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department and Mulu assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala headlined the event, joined by Datuk Dr. Philip Raja, past president of the Rurum Kelabit Association; Adam Yii, Miri Mayor and Pujut assemblyman; Datuk Dennis Ngau, Telang Usan assemblyman and Sarawak Tourism Board chairman; and Yoichi Kajiya, senior manager at Pertama Ferroalloys.
In a display of corporate social responsibility (CSR), Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn Bhd (PFA) contributed monetary assistance to support the carnival.
In a statement issued recently, PFA said the donation is a testament to the company’s commitment to supporting young talents in Sarawak.
“The carnival not only featured competitive events but also fostered a sense of togetherness among the Kelabit community, with food stalls, local product vendors, and family-oriented activities such as children’s games, dancing, and karaoke,” it said.
KSH President Romeo Peter Raja expressed gratitude for PFA’s generosity and contribution to the 25th Games Carnival, which aligns with KSH’s mission to unite families and communities through sports and culture.
The Highlanders Games Carnival, a biennial event, continues to be a cornerstone of Sarawak’s cultural and sporting landscape, reflecting 25 years of outstanding achievement.
With the support of partners like PFA, KSH looks forward to many more years of collaboration in promoting unity, heritage, and athletic excellence.
