KUCHING, 11 Oct: The Sarawak Badminton Association (SBA), in collaboration with Pertama FerroAlloys Sdn. Bhd., will send seven young female players to the All Japan Badminton Diamond Cup 2025, scheduled to take place in Aomori, Japan, from 21 to 24 November 2025.

According to SBA Chairman Dato’ Sri Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, the support and sponsorship from Pertama FerroAlloys enable the young Sarawak players to gain valuable opportunities to compete internationally.

“With this participation, the players will be able to boost their self‐confidence and assess their skill level against others, especially those from Japan,” he said at a press conference held today at the SBA Office.

He added that this experience is very important to strengthen the skills and confidence of the young players.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of Pertama FerroAlloys Sdn. Bhd., Yuki Nakamura, who formerly represented Japan as a national badminton player, shared his experience playing in the Malaysia Open 1993 in Kuching.

That experience taught him perseverance and motivated him to provide opportunities for young Sarawak talents to perform at the international level. Yuki admitted that at that time he was still lacking in mental strength, skill, and physical ability, but the experience taught him not to give up easily, and thereby encouraged him to open up opportunities for young talents from Sarawak to compete on the world stage.

“Pertama FerroAlloys successfully obtained a special slot for the Sarawak team to participate in the tournament, and the Japanese organizers are very welcoming of that participation,” he said.

A total of 32 teams will take part in the All Japan Badminton Diamond Cup 2025 — 30 teams from Japan, plus one invited team each from Sarawak (Malaysia) and Shanghai (China).
